The findings of scientific research suggest that in nearly all situations a dog’s welfare and quality of life will be improved by living in a home environment, rather than in a shelter. Therefore, it makes sense that organizations strive to get dogs into homes as quickly as possible, but getting them adopted is only half of the battle! Ensuring that they stay in a home and do not go through a cycle of returning to the shelter and being readopted is the other half, and for some dogs in a particular, that can be especially challenging. However, not only is it important that dogs remain in their new homes, but equally as crucial is that they have a good quality of life there. In this webinar, you'll learn about the three components that should be done as part of the rehoming process to increase the likelihood that dogs both remain in their new home and that they have a good quality of life there! This webinar will first provide an overview of the scientific evidence that underpins why these three components are so imperative to include in the rehoming process. Then, how they can be practically implemented at a shelter or rescue organization will be discussed. A live Q&A session will follow! (If you register for the webinar but are unable to attend, we can send you a recording of it.)
